12/7/2022 0 Comments Need for speed underground 2 isoNeed for Speed: Underground 2 provides several new features, such as broader customization, new methods of selecting races, set in a city known as Bayview. The game entails tuning cars for street races, resuming the Need for Speed: Underground storyline. Like its predecessor, it was also commercially successful, selling around 11 million copies worldwide and breaking sales records in the United Kingdom. Another version for mobile phones was also developed. Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS versions were developed by Pocketeers, and a PlayStation Portable version, titled Need for Speed: Underground Rivals, was developed by Team Fusion. It was developed for Microsoft Windows, GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. It is the eighth installment in the Need for Speed series and the direct sequel to Need for Speed: Underground. I just didn't upscale them yet.Need for Speed: Underground 2 is a 2004 racing video game developed by EA Black Box and published by Electronic Arts. I already replaced all gc textures by the pc textures. And I still have NfS Most Wanted in the pipe. Maybe I will do some further touch up in v1.1. But in most cases I just stick with the upscaled textures. Then I just interpolated textures from different models or did some other editing. Some textures didn't look good with any model. I used the ESRGAN models General_plusPatch, BSRGAN, NMKD-Siax, NMKD-Superscale, UniversalUpscaler-Detailed, SGI and also Gigapixel (low resolution mode). Opened the 4-6 upscales of each texture side by side and chose the best :D Sounds like tedious as fuck? Yes it is. well I just upscaled each texture with 4-6 different models which from my experience give good results. Ok, so about the upscaling: First I prepared the textures by using the ESRGAN models BC1-smooth2 and SSAntiAlias9x. If you now load the textures in the game, they will look like intended. You can keep the png format, just save them as png and you will be fine. Anyway, I just used the tool XnConvert to convert them. If you just load the pc textures they will look blue in the game. Although you have to convert them before. If you successfully replaced all gamecube textures by pc textures you can start with the actual upscale process. Organizing the textures in subfolders like ui, magazines, ground/walls etc. I used Visipics, which can find a lot of similar textures (but not all!). Then probably the hardest part: Finding the same textures and replacing the gc textures by the pc textures. I got like 7k - 8k textures by this, but approximately 50% of them are duplicates, which I identified and removed by using the tool AllDup. Then I extracted the textures from the pc version since these often have higher resolutions or atleast are less compressed than the gamecube ones. Well, in a first step ofc I played the game and tried to dump as much textures as possible (btw if someone finds textures, which haven't been replaced so far, feel free to contact me).
